Bonjour Belz!
This year, the Gilman community has the distinguished honor of welcoming Cassidy Belz as the new Director of Counseling! Mrs. Belz has a wealth of experience to draw upon, most recently serving as the school counselor at Boys' Latin, and previously as a program supervisor for COMPASS Boston, a day school in Massachusetts that specializes in educating those with special needs. In both roles, she supported youth facing challenges.
When asked about why she decided to join Gilman, Mrs. Belz said that she “found a love for being a part of a boys' school [at Boys Latin]” and is “particularly excited about Gilman’s focus on developing men who are multifaceted and can be proud of the different aspects of their interests and personalities.” Furthermore, she spoke on what she was excited about in the upcoming school year, saying, “I am really looking forward to integrating myself into all different aspects of school life – I want to get to know all of the students, and I want you to get to know me. I am very much looking forward to cheering at games, popping into classes, and teaching in seminars.”
Mrs. Belz is not entirely a stranger to the Gilman community. She went to the same boarding school as Mr. Smyth, Phillips Academy Andover. In her free time, she loves sports, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks, as well as cooking.
There is little question that will be an excellent addition to the Gilman community, supporting boys and advancing the Gilman mission to build men of mind, body, and spirit. So, please join us in welcoming Mrs. Belz!
