Good Day, Mr. Deboer!

This fall, Gilman is happy to welcome an experienced faculty member, Mr. Bryce Deboer. Born in Sussex County, New Jersey, Mr. Deboer attended St. Lawrence University as a track and field athlete. He holds a Master’s in Math Education from Towson University and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from St. Lawrence University.

Having spent the past seven years at St. Paul’s, Mr. Deboer is joining Gilman for his 11th year of teaching. At St. Paul’s, Mr. Deboer was a math teacher and served as the math department chair for his last three years. He also coached football on and off and coached track every year he spent there.

While coaching track, he had many positive experiences with the Gilman community, noticing excellence in the athletes’ results and character. Interactions like these, along with Gilman’s emphasis on academic achievement, are some of the main reasons why Mr. Deboer chose to come to Gilman.

At Gilman, Mr. Deboer will continue his work as a football and track coach, and he will join the math department to teach BC precalc and AB geometry. Mr. Deboer is most looking forward to “getting to know the students and getting to know the community.” He looks to make a real impact during his time at Gilman by bonding with students who like to work hard and succeed in the classroom and on the athletic fields.

We are very excited to welcome Mr. Deboer into our community, and if you see him around the halls, make sure to tell him Go Ravens! (Editor’s note: He is a Falcons fan.)
