Student Council Elections

After the departure of the senior class, the remaining students gather together to elect student council members for the upcoming school year. The entire upper school selects the student body president through an election process split over two days of assemblies—May 9 and May 10. During the first assembly, the four candidates, Nicky Lawson ‘25, Bryce Wilson ‘25, Frank Siciliano ‘25, and Dylan Buchalter ‘25, gave a three-minute speech to entice the students to vote for them. There was also a short question and answer session in which The Gilman News posed three questions and prompts for the candidates to respond to. After providing the students a day for consideration, the election was held on Friday, May 10, during assembly. Each student’s vote counted as the following—juniors counted as three votes, sophomores counted as two votes, and freshmen counted as one vote. Two rounds of votes later, Mr. Aaron Slutkin ‘17 announced Frank Siciliano ‘25 as the student body president for the 2024-2025 school year.

Furthermore, each class must congregate during form meetings on May 15 and May 16 to vote for the student council representatives for their respective grades. These roles include class president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer (for the rising senior class, this is split into two separate roles: secretary and treasurer). For each of the respective classes, the following students were selected as student council members:

  • Class of 2025 (Rising Seniors)

    • President: Matthew Feola ‘25

    • Vice President: Dylan Walther ‘25

    • Secretary: Charlie Gallagher ‘25

    • Treasurer: Nicky Lawson ‘25

  • Class of 2026 (Rising Juniors)

    • President: Randy Liu ‘26

    • Vice President: Warren Hernandez ‘26

    • Secretary/Treasurer: Bo Vaughn ‘26

  • Class of 2027 (Rising Sophomores)

    • President: Timothy Yoo ‘27

    • Vice President: Joshua Kim ‘27

    • Secretary/Treasurer: Jax Winstead ‘27

Congratulations to everyone who was elected to the student council for the 2024-2025 school year!
