Be Well, Mrs. Kim!

After three years as the Director of the Health and Wellness team, Ms. Christina Kim has decided to take her expertise to The Maryvale School for Girls. Throughout her three years here, Ms. Kim has worked tirelessly to proactively support the mind, body, and spirit of every student schoolwide. While Ms. Kim has adored her time as a part of the Gilman wellness team, even describing it as “the forefront on this wave of director of wellness,” where the department is being implemented in schools across the country, she believes that Gilman will “kill it” without her presence and is excited to move forward with her career.

Ms. Kim was the first health and wellness officer at Gilman. This could have resulted in a difficult transition with no predecessor to help her acclimate. However, after just three short years, she says, “I feel like I've been part of the community for a long time because people are so welcoming, and they want to work with you.” In her time here, Ms. Kim has been essential to the students’ success in many ways. She helped develop the seminar curriculum and found ways to keep each student’s  “Mind, Body, and Spirit” in immaculate condition.

While her time as a wellness director is coming to a close, she believes that the Gilman faculty will find a great replacement and continue to promote wellness to better the experiences of the students, and she plans to do the same with her new position as the Assistant Head of School for Strategic Initiatives at Maryvale. After her departure, Ms. Kim is not worried about her inclusion in the Gilman community as she says it “is one of the hallmarks of Gilman.” Although she will not be a part of the faculty, she plans to stay connected with the Gilman community as a parent. Her favorite part of Gilman is that “everyone here is committed to the Gilman mission,” and she feels that Gilman “truly is a special place.” Though her time here was short, Ms. Kim will be greatly missed, and the entire Gilman community wishes her the best of luck with the next chapter of her life.
