New Evening Study Program Launches at Gilman
As of Monday, September 15th, Gilman students now have the option to attend evening study. The evening study program runs in the library from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, offering a structured space to complete homework and prepare for tests. In addition to studying, evening study also provides food for students to enjoy after a long school day.
The program was created to help students balance their workload and avoid the stress of last-minute cramming. With a busy afternoon schedule full of sports and activities, finding a quiet study space can be challenging. Dr. Stephanie Harris noticed that students in the community were having trouble completing their homework during blocks at school. Seeking to address this problem, she created the evening study program with hopes of expanding opportunities for students to complete their work at school.
Dr. Harris’s main aspirations for the program are to encourage consistent study habits and help students feel more prepared for upcoming assignments, giving students a chance to study in a calm environment with teachers nearby for support. She commented, “We want to give students a space where they can concentrate, ask questions, and stay on top of their work.” Dr. Harris also hopes that eventually the library will be full of students collaborating and working together. During evening study, students have the freedom to work on whatever is most important to them.
Students are encouraged to take full advantage of this space. Whether that's catching up on reading, preparing for an exam, or just looking for a quiet place to focus and enjoy some food, the program offers time, space, and support for everyone to succeed. The News highly suggests you sign up for evening study through a link in the Daily Memo.
