Letter From The President

Dear Gilman Student Body,

I hope this letter finds you well, coming off a relaxing summer break. This year will be special, and as your Student Body President, I would like to acknowledge some new beginnings, as well as outline our goals for the Gilman community.

First, I would like to welcome everybody, specifically the incoming Class of ‘29, back to campus. Gilman will be your second home for these next nine months, so I ask that everybody partake in the community and contribute to its well-being. As the incoming freshmen embark on their high school journeys, I ask that everybody – specifically the seniors – welcome them with open arms, creating a full support system. In order to succeed in school spirit, everybody needs to be involved and engaged.

Specifically, I am planning on increasing attendance at athletic and extracurricular events in order to support our fellow Hounds. Every sport will receive at least one themed student section this fall, an effort to invest back into our athletes and give them the attention they deserve. I encourage everybody to send me feedback via the open inbox in the Daily Memo or directly to me. The student council is aiming for increased accountability and openness this year in order to meet everybody’s goals. As time goes on, I will announce projects and initiatives during assembly throughout the year, so stay tuned for more updates. I promise you they are worth hearing!

Most importantly, though, as we start this school year, I ask that everybody treat each other with kindness and compassion. Let’s have the most classy and professional year yet. Let’s outshine every other school in the MIAA and prove what it means to be Gilman. I encourage anybody who doesn’t already know me to introduce themselves. As Mr. Smyth says, “Just say hey.” I would love to get to know you better as we embark on this electric school year together. Good luck with your studies, and let’s go Hounds!
